When it comes to planning your timeline for the day, take massive comfort from the fact that all the people you have employed to make your day special come with years of experience and know how.
You will have an idea of how you want your day to flow and it’s our job as your suppliers to ensure you get the day you’ve always dreamed of.
The one thing I always advise is leave yourself enough time with some to spare. Find a point of the day you absolutely know is going to happen at a specific time – the ceremony is always a great starting point and work backwards and forwards from there.
Your venue will begin to build your day around your ceremony time. They will give you an itinerary to approve based on times they know the kitchen and staff will need to serve welcome drinks and canapes as well as cook and serve your wedding breakfast. They will also suggest the best time for any evening celebrations including cutting the cake and serving the evening food.
Your hair and makeup artists can give you an idea of how long they will take – they usually offer a trial beforehand. If your bridal party numbers change, make sure you let them know so they give themselves plenty of time too (and don’t forget the mums!)
I will normally start my day with you two hours before the ceremony – maybe earlier if you and the groom are in different places and I need to travel between you to get pre-wedding pictures. I will then be with you all day, happily snapping (and videoing if you’ve chosen to have a highlight film) and usually finish an hour after the first dance. If you’re planning any surprises, like fireworks, let me know. You have me all day and I will stay until you need me to.
So much will happen behind the scenes on your wedding day, so trust your team. Remember to check in with suppliers in the week leading up to your big day to ensure everyone has the correct details and timings and to alleviate any last minute anxiety for you.
