We’re probably not the first to tell you this…but planning a wedding can be expensive.
Every single person you hire is an expert in their field, what you’re hiring them for is their full time job and for your wedding, you are the centre of their universe.
The old adage “you get what you pay for” is quite appropriate for the wedding industry. Being upfront with you, you will find cheaper photographers out there, but if you look at their work and experience they might not be quite what you’re looking for and is it worth gambling your memories on something you might not be happy with in years to come?
Photography and videography can rank differently in the priorities for each couple. I’m happy to say if you’re not too bothered about the photos you get on your big day, we might not be the right fit. I’ve heard so many regretful tales of the person who didn’t think it was that important, so didn’t allocate any budget to it and ended up getting pictures they would never display.
So many people think my job is to turn up, take pictures, go home but here’s a little look of what you’re actually paying for when you hire your photographer:
- Pre wedding consultations, most of which are via video call or we can meet you at your venue if you’re meeting with the wedding team
- On the day coverage up to 12 hours and beyond
- When I get home, I download all images to ensure they are backed up and safe on my hard drive before going to bed
- Preparation of a ‘sneak peek’ of up to 40 pictures 24-48 hours post wedding that you can post on social media
- Post wedding editing – photographers can take up to 5000 images on your big day, these then need editing – this can take up to five full working days, a little longer if you’ve chosen to have a highlight film
- These photos then need uploading to your online gallery
- Available for any post wedding questions you you might have
- Designing an album if you’ve ordered one
